The cycle proficiency test is now called 'National Standards in Cycle Training' or ' Bikability Scotland ' and is a comprehensive 3 level training scheme developed by the Cycle Touring Club (CTC), Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), Cycling Scotland, Cycling England, local authorities and independent cycling experts. Stirling Cycle Training provide a range of training courses which all meet the National Standards in Cycle Training level 1-3 programme. Whether you have never ridden before or are a regular road cyclist we aim to help you improve your skills on your bike. Our instructors have enhanced Disclosure Scotland (Police) checks and first aid qualifications.
Winter 2012 Special FREE adult cycle commuter training. Thanks to the Going Carbon Neutral Stirling (GCNS) Cycle Stirling project Free one-to-one training is now available to boost your confidence and skills in traffic, in the dark and on your route to work. This training is offered FREE to the first 50 people aged 17 or over to contact GCNS. Book asap to avoid disappointment and tell him you saw the advert on the Stirling Cycle Training Website. Easter School Holiday special.We will be running on road cycling for beginners courses in Stirling during the school holidays. Each 8 hour course will run for 2 hours a day, over four days. Course 1: Tuesday 10 April 2012 to Friday 13 April 2012 10am-12noon Suitable for those aged 9 - 13 who can ride in control buthave not done any previous cycle proficiency training or those who feel theyneed more practice to enable them to cycle safely on the road and manage real road conditions. |

| The course will start in a traffic free area to learn how to do a bike safety check & equipment check; starting & stopping; cycling while looking over your shoulder; cycling while signalling; safe use of shared paths.We will then move on to quiet roads around Stirling High School & theTorbrex estate to learn & practice where to cycle in the road, passing parked cars, passing side roads, left & right turns, managing traffic calming pinch points and mini roundabouts. Cost: £45 per person, must be booked and paid in advance. For younger children we will be running slightly shorter courses. Each 6 hour course will run for 90 minutes a day, over four days. Course 2.Tuesday 10 April 2012 to Friday 13 April 2012 2.00 pm-3.30 pm Suitable for those aged 7 - 8 who can ride in control but have not done any previous cycle proficiency training. This will be similar to the course for 9-13 year olds but we expect to spend more time on bike control exercises and wewill not progress onto mini roundabouts. The course will start in a traffic free area to learn how to do a bike safety check & equipment check; starting & stopping; slow riding incontrol, cornering, cycling while looking over your shoulder; cycling while signalling; safe use of shared paths.
